Nursery
Welcome to Croxby Nursery, where your child’s educational journey begins. Every day is a busy day, using in the moment opportunities, which take into account each and every child’s interest and next step of learning. We create an inquisitive and fun environment by challenging the children within their play.
Our Nursery Vision
To provide our children with the skills to be resilient independent and respectful individuals who have a love of learning and seek opportunities to challenge themselves in everything they do. developing social emotional and academic skills,
We want to provide children with experiences that will foster and nurture a love of learning whilst developing social emotional and academic skills. We take the time to get to know children, as individuals, ensuring that each child’s experience is tailored to their needs and fascinations and build trusting relations.
The aims of the Nursery are:

To provide a safe and exciting environment in which children are encouraged to take risks and thrive.
-
To provide an engaging environment and active learning experiences which take account of, and respond to, the children’s developmental needs and interests.
-
To provide a curriculum which offers purposeful play opportunities and promotes the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
-

Our Environment
In the nursery, children experience an environment where their play is valued and meaningful. We encourage children’s natural sense of awe and wonder. We seek to create places of beauty where children can be inspired to come and play and develop a love of learning.
We love reading at Croxby and the love of reading begins in Nursery. Following the CUSP Early Foundations Literature Spine which is a carefully crafted series of books which are thematically mapped and offer a structured story time to create a language rich environment. From this, children are provided with a range of opportunities and experiences to build upon their foundational knowledge.
Oracy is a priority in nursery and we aim to provide the best opportunities and a holistic approach to develop this through songs/rhymes/storytelling and verbal interactions with adults in the classroom environment.
Outdoor play is an integral part of learning for young children and is also found to benefit children’s mental and physical health. Well-being and positive mental health is always a priority for us at Croxby, so it is important that we teach and encourage children to spend time outdoors and understand why it is important from a young age. Children can make use of outdoor play area in a safe and secure way but can also make use of the school grounds to explore the gardens, spend time in the well-being hub or go for a walk around our mile track.
